Breaking News|| Sergeant Fanie Nkosi is expected to appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court on Friday
Suspended police sergeant Fannie Nkosi is expected to appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo on Friday following fresh allegations of tampering with evidence.
Nkosi was previously denied bail by the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court after facing charges linked to the unlawful possession of explosives, theft, and defeating the ends of justice.
According to national police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, Nkosi allegedly interfered with evidence in a 2022 case involving dagga, explosives, and unlicensed firearms.
Police investigations claim that Nkosi collected the original case docket while pretending he had been sent by Head Office. Months later, he allegedly returned to Thohoyandou posing as a Colonel from Head Office and removed confiscated dagga from police custody.
Authorities later discovered that one of the exhibit bags had allegedly been tampered with after it was booked in at Head Office.
Nkosi is now expected to face additional charges of defeating and obstructing the course of justice.
