🚨 FIFTH WOMAN’S BODY FOUND NEAR KEMPTON PARK AS SERIAL KILLER FEARS GROW

KEMPTON PARK, GAUTENG — Concern is mounting among residents following the discovery of the body of a fifth woman in the wider Kempton Park area, amid an ongoing police investigation into a series of disturbing deaths.

The latest body was discovered in Olifantsfontein on Monday morning. Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the woman was found partially unclothed and with visible bruising.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the woman may have been killed somewhere else before her body was allegedly dumped at the location where it was discovered.

“It looks like the crime didn’t happen here,” Mathe said.

The woman has not yet been identified, and police have not established whether her death is connected to four other cases involving women whose bodies were discovered in and around Kempton Park over the past two months.

The latest discovery has intensified fears among residents that a serial killer could be operating in the area.

However, police have stressed that there is currently not enough evidence to conclude that the deaths are linked or that one person is responsible.

🔴 FOUR PREVIOUS CASES UNDER INVESTIGATION

The first of the four earlier cases involved a 37-year-old woman whose body was discovered near the R21 on 15 July.

According to police, the woman was found naked and had allegedly been restrained using cable ties.

A suspect was arrested two days later and remains in custody while the investigation continues.

A second woman, aged 32, was found near the R21 on 24 August.

On 10 September, police discovered the body of another unidentified woman in an advanced state of decomposition.

Then, on Saturday, 12 September, a fourth woman's body was discovered in a grass-covered thicket near the R21 in Rhodesfield, opposite OR Tambo International Airport.

Police said the woman was partially clothed, had visible injuries and appeared to have been wearing sports clothing.

⚠️ FEARS GROW OVER MISSING RHODESFIELD WOMAN

The latest developments have also heightened concerns about the disappearance of 38-year-old Elizabeth “Tsontso” Mokolo Moselakgomo.

Moselakgomo was reportedly last seen after leaving her Rhodesfield home to go for a run on Wednesday, 9 September.

Her family has been searching for her since she disappeared.

Police have not confirmed that any of the bodies discovered is Moselakgomo, and formal identification procedures are still underway.

Her disappearance has nevertheless added to anxiety in the community, particularly among residents who regularly walk, run or exercise in the Rhodesfield and R21 areas.

👮 POLICE LAUNCH DEDICATED TASK TEAM

Given the similarities between some of the cases, Acting National Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Puleng Dimpane has directed Gauteng police to establish a dedicated multidisciplinary task team to investigate the murders.

The team includes specialised detectives from units including Murder and Robbery and the Investigative Psychology Unit.

It is being led by Gauteng Deputy Provincial Commissioner Major-General Mbuso Khumalo.

Acting Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Major-General Fred Kekana has also cautioned against drawing conclusions before forensic and other evidence has been properly assessed.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said authorities are taking the similarities seriously, even though the existence of a serial killer has not been confirmed.

“While investigations are still underway and we have not confirmed that these deaths are linked to a serial killer, the similarities are sufficiently concerning for us to issue a public warning and intensify our investigations,” Mathe said.

🚨 WARNING TO WOMEN IN KEMPTON PARK

SAPS has issued a warning to women in Kempton Park, particularly those living or exercising around Rhodesfield, to take additional precautions.

Women have been urged to:

• Avoid walking, running or exercising alone in isolated areas.
• Exercise or travel in groups whenever possible.
• Stay away from secluded locations.
• Remain aware of their surroundings.
• Inform family or friends of their whereabouts.
• Report suspicious people, vehicles or activity to police.

Residents, motorists, security personnel and anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity around Rhodesfield, the R21 and surrounding areas have also been urged to come forward.

🔎 INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

For now, investigators are working to determine whether the cases are connected or whether the similarities are coincidental.

Forensic evidence, post-mortem examinations, identification processes, witness statements and other investigative information will be crucial in determining what happened to the women and whether there is a common perpetrator.

Until those investigations are completed, authorities are urging the public not to spread unverified claims or identify victims themselves on social media.

But with five women's bodies now reportedly discovered in the broader area, the concern among residents is understandable.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are expected to provide further information as significant developments emerge.
